Google to Replace Google Drive With Something Much Better

Within the next two weeks, Google will be bringing the Google Drive client offline. In its place, the company will be introducing a brand new system called Backup and Sync, and judging from the look of things, it appears that the new system is miles better than the current Drive client.

Making its debut on the 28th of June, Google will make the Backup and Sync client available for both PC and Mac. This single client will not only replace the by-then-defunct Google Drive client, it’ll also be replacing the Google Photos Backup app.

Simply put, Backup and Sync would now be your one-stop Google Drive client for both documents and photos.

What can Backup and Sync do

For starters, the client will be able to monitor and backup files inside of any folder that you’ve designated. This can include your documents folder, your desktop, or any other important folders.

While the feature set sounds good on paper, we’ll need to see the client in action in order to find out if there are any potential limitations to the system.

For those who are thinking of using this system to back up their entire computer to Google Drive, I would like to remind you Google account owners only have 15GB of free storage space available.

If you’re serious about it, I would recommend you to start buying more storage space before the system launches.
