Think twice before you start registering your domain name, you might just get sued. Or perhaps research more? According to Yahoo News, Google has just launch a lawsuit against a Polish group of poets with the domain gmail.pl.
To these Polish poets, Gmail is actually GMAiL aka Grupa Mlodych Artystow i Literatow. In English, it means Group of Young Artists and Writers. GMAiL’s spokeperson Izabela Krawczyk says the following:
“We didn’t buy this name just to sell it to Google. As a matter of pride, we’re refusing to give it up,”
“We bought the name legally, with our own money. Nobody gave it to us for free. We refuse to be deprived of what we consider is our property.”
Poor Polish poets, I guess they did not see that coming. Google has been facing same problem previously when they aren’t fast enough to register Gmail domain in United Kingdom and Germany. So I assumed this makes them more “experienced” in handling such lawsuits?
