While most of the attention are focusing on the George Hotz for unlocking the iPhone, idamo4u from Malaysia has too proved in the forum that he now owned an unlocked iPhone running on DiGi. If you can’t wait for the release of iPhone in Asia next year, you can now buy a iPhone from US, unlock it and own it with full functions several months before Malaysians get their hand on it.

idamo4u bought his iPhone from San Fransisco for $599 with tax of $49.90 and he already had a second iPhone unlocked. For those who are really interested in doing so, visit the guide on how to unlock iPhone.

Good job. But bear in mind, you will not covered under warranty anymore after modification.

Actually second thought, I think I will wait. Owning it 4 months before someone else is not really too great to me.

unlocking the iphone is alot easier now (read http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/15/anysim-is-here-open-source-gui-iphone-unlock-app/)
then again, it would be wiser to wait for the next generation of iphones, and the ones that will hit asia/malaysia will most likely have 3G in them, mms and better functionality.

Has anybody try the x-sim here:

No software crack and it requires only an extra layer of sticker on your SIM card. and the price is cheap too : )

Listen up people , Lets be realistic , PHones that are unlocked are bound to crash sooner or later , THe screen will lock up now and then applications will not function , Think about it you will shell out RM 3k and get absolutely no warranty or nothing on it , Then if you want to fix it , where will you go ? Drop your phone a few times and the touch screen stops working, your finished…. DId anyone actually stop and think about this… ? I mean RM 3k is a lot of dough even if you are filthy rich , How would you like it when you buy the unlocked one and then suffer several intermittent problems , You will be really heartbroken… I am going to wait till the next years launch and buy it 2 years from now , when everyone has it and we know what are the problems with having it , Anyone with me on this one ?
