This tutorial...sucks. I mean if thats what a polaroid looked like then yea it'd be good, but a polarioud has a texture to is and it has a wider area around the photo, and you could have spent some time on making the photo itself be retro looking.

The final image doesn't look like a Polaroid. I take Polaroids religiously, and anyone who does can tell you the same thing. Sharpness and depth is totally off. The Greens don't render in that fashion on a real Polaroid. Also, real Polaroids have a specific grain structure which is unique to them, and yes, it shows in certain areas, like the sky. The blue of the sky doesn't render in that fashion on a real Polaroid.

Really great tutorial! The only thing I did differently is added a 5px feather to the glossy step so the gloss looks more natural and blended.

I left out the most important part of my question.

i was meaning the step three where you "Select Polygonal Lasso Tool, Hold ALT and draw a rectangular like the image below to cut off half of the highlighted selection."

Why does that make the photo somehow blend better?

Greetings,

Great tutorial but it gives me a question though:

What is the purpose of step three? I see the effect of course but why does that step need to be done?

Thanks,
