Comments on: Change Wordpress Permalinks without affecting Google Index

This sounds like a solution to my problem but I want to be sure. I want to change my permalinks on my blog but when I did it in my blog, all of the current blog posts gave a 404 error because the link structure had changed. So this plugin will allow me to change my link structure and keep all of the current posts active?

Like I have the link structure set to postname/number right now and I want to change it to category/postname/number without affecting the existing posts. This does that right?
