Well, I’d say with another two new local ads network jumping on the bandwagon before the year ends at 2007, and how Advertlets’s downtime affects them, NuffNang’s launched of their new exclusive program’s timing is about right.

NuffNang officially announced their exclusive program, named the Nuffnang Gliterrati today. This is a auto-join club that means you are automatically a Gliterrati club member as long as your blog are cleaned from other South East Asia Oriented ad networks, except Nuffnang. Yes, you still can published Nuffnang Ads together with AdSense, Chitika, or others.

Benefits of Gliterrati members are clearly explained over at the announcement page together with a comparison in terms of earnings between exclusives and non-exclusives. Folks at Nuffnang as made a good step to strenghten their community early this year, but we are yet to see the rest move. Anyway, it’s still early.

Received a heads up from Nuffnang couple of days ago, its the announcement of their new service – Innit. Innit’s goal is simple; helping bloggers to gain more readerships. Init runs the Digg model. I’m sure we are all able to list tones of sites running Digg.com model, but that doesn’t mean Innit will not work well. Personal point of view, as long it has its targeted audiences, it will hit. Ping.sg of Singapore is a good example in this case.

Innit is a new startup of NuffNang, that means you will need to have an account with Nuffnang (as a publisher) to login and start submitting your blog entries for publicity. Popular contents stays on the top portion of the website, categorized and pushed back according to its age, very similar to Ping.sg. Popular post is even listed on Nuffnang main site, that guarantees exposure if you content make it to the top 10.

Some problem though..

So like any cool web application out there, I’m always excited to try it out. However I was not able to submit a post, it keeps giving me this error.

Invalid URL, post must be register with NuffNang.

Maybe those of you who have successfully submitted a content can give a hand here, or perhaps something I’ve missed.

New approach to blog advertisement

I mean we’ve seen this type of approach on magazines, public transports like busses, trains and even airplanes but for blogs, it’s probably the first. The type of ad works by placing a JavaScript on your blog that’s directly linked to a fixed background, so advertiser can take control of your background.

It is indeed an interesting approach, however I guess this requires much scarification to the current look and feel, and I’d assume the pay must be good.

Conclusions on publishers’ thoughts

After the entry, massive comments were left in LiewCF as well as readers emailing me asking for my detailed point of views. Compiling all these comments, I’d say most of your thoughts are as follows:

1. You are happy with Advertlets earnings, but not Nuffnang (or vice versa), or
2. You are not happy with both because you earn little from them, or
3. You are not planning to try, because the ads are static, or
4. You are sticking with both, hoping it will be better, or
5. You are earning a lot, so you disagree with me, or
6. You don’t know what Advertlets and Nuffnang are.

Your earning depends on traffic, or is it not?

I am firm believer that no matter what ad network you stick to, without some handsome amount of traffic, you will not see much revenue. I advised bloggers to concentrate on good contents; get traffic; then start make money blogging. If you jump these steps, you will not fail but you will not succeed in the long run.

But maybe I was wrong too.

Today I received a print screen from a publisher of Nuffnang. I don’t think I should reveal the url but this blogger gets like 1500 unique visitors day and here’s his earnings. (Bands and advertisers’ names are removed)

Let draw a summary, this blog earns RM85 ($25 usd) per week but when ads are switched to CPC based, it’s only getting RM0.30 ($0.08)/click. This blogger earns $25 usd the first week, and about $4 usd for the rest of 22 Jun – 11 Aug.

Nuffnang reduced minimum payout from RM100 to RM50 months ago, if you are delighted over this news you need to think again – Has this makes you reach withdrawal faster? My guess is no, because I noticed an immediate changing of most campaigns to CPC, that makes earning harder.

Nothing personal, just business

It might sound like a catch but its normal, because this is business. At the current stage where image ads are running on CPC basis, you are better off as an advertiser than publisher. These are my personal opinions; don’t take my words for it. Observe yourself. I’d like to hear opinions from publishers, if you don’t mind sharing.

Nuffnang brought us some sneak preview into their Nuffnang 2.0 during the Singapore Rush hour 3 community events, and today it has been officially announced in their blog. Nuffnang 2.0 from a nutshell comes with a brand new logo and exciting new functions on a totally revamp website.

Not much has been reveled on the website yet, but I’m pretty sure nuffnangers are very exciting to see what Nuffnang has to offer in their version 2 ad networks launching October this year. Nuffnang’s new logo definitely looks better than the old for sure. After sharing thoughts with several designers we come to think that there’s plenty of rooms for the logo design. Here’s what Nuffnang’s co-founder Ming has to say about their new logo.

Today, we mark the launch of a new logo. It represents the joint efforts of fellow Nuffnangers mainly a blogger named , partners and team members and retain all the key elements of our original logo I discussed above. One additional facet, is the fact that the stickman is shouting “out of the box”. This concept has the same dual applications to blogger and advertiser.

3 months ago Nuffnang Malaysia gave out free tickets to the premier of Pirates of Caribbean; now, in conjunction with the Singapore national day, Nuffnang Singapore throws their first community event – Premier to Rush Hour 3.

I’m going to Penang for Bloggers Gathering tar held this coming Saturday (23rd June 2007). I did not realized that we have to register ourselves so now I’m out of the first 100 bloggers to register, I ain’t going to get any free food. But that’s ok lah, we are not there for the food. Verdict

This sounds like a great money making, especially if Nuffnang guarantees minimum RM0.50 per click, bloggers that don’t make much from Google AdSense can probably make a come back with Nuffnang CPC ads, provided that if they are constantly filled with ads. CPC are most effective on texts ads, I’m not really sure if image ads is going to work well.

Nuffnang paid!

After one week or so of putting up the Nuffnang ad (top right), earning figures are now showing up on my members account (Thanks for tipping, Cely). I’m earning RM140.45 ($40 usd) / week with one ad unit. This gives me an extra RM560 ($160 usd) / month. Sounds fine ;)

How Nuffnang pays?

Many I’ve asked are not really sure how exactly Nuffnang calculate your earnings. Well, what I got from Timothy, Nuffnang co-founder is that your earnings are based on unique visitors/per week; not CPC, CPA or CPM. I Hope I got this right Tim.

Advertlets fixed!

I’m not sure how many of you Advertlets publishers out there are aware of this, but your URI comes with extra codes if you display Advertlets Polls. I’ve taken down my Advertlets fearing these extra codes could affect Google indexing or so. Its fine now, it’s fixed.
