Hi mahendran,

Just for academic sake, would you mind telling us what's your traffic like when you earn RM50-RM200 per week? 10,000? How many percentage out of that is traffic from Malaysia?

Hi All,

i found thing interesting discussion by accident.

i reckon, it depends who and where your visitors come from.

i was contemplating implementing nuffnang on one of my blogs by decided against it as most of my visitors are not from Malaysia.

i've been getting very respectable amount from adsense and will definitely stick by them. ;)

Hi Chong! :-) It is a bit disappointing that the two models won't be part of the 2.0. Maybe they will be available after we login?

Vincent, I don't see what's wrong with the staff of the ad company commenting in this post. You don't expect people from outside to know what's happening internally right? I'm more curious of the "fire" between the two.

As long as neither of them pretend to be Mr AhBeng and start defending themselves, I'm totally ok with it.

I personally thinks that staff from ads network should not reply to a blog post if it is going to be negative, even just clarifying up stuff. That is not professional in my opinion, making the company looks desperate.

People would not stop using Nuffnang because of Hong Kiat's post, but their earning stat. I myself quited Nuffnang after the month of paid campaign at just RM2 a day with the animated banner — a sponsored post will cover the cost for the ad for the whole month.

I have not much Malaysian visitors, and I know local advertising network won't work for me. Good luck to all.

"Nothing personal, just business"
you are right, bisnes is bisnes. Despite of the inaccurate stat count on few of my sites, which tracked far lower than what my statcounter show.
Most of my trafik are from oversea, if Nuttnang feels that these traffic do not attract local advertisers... then we will have to let go the local companies.
I drop the nuttnang ads on most of my sites only left one to keep Sappoting our local industry. hope they will improve or....

BTW my friend is setting up another Blog advertising program, you wanto join??

I was initially a huge supporter of Advertlets as they pay much better than Nuffnang. Nuffnang has always been paying peanuts, so I removed them earlier. Then, Advertlets started CPM (I think) and I earn some more peanuts :P. So, eating too much peanuts is just not good for my health. Thus, I removed Advertlets too from all my blogs a couple of months back.

Now, as little as Adsense pay, I discovered they are paying more than our Malaysia Boleh ad companies so for the time being, I'm sticking with them.

My nuffnang earning is more pathetic than the screen shot you posted, HK. CPC image really didn't do me any good and RM0.10 per click is like US$0.03 each only.

Hope our feedbacks will be heard by both local online advertising companies and do something about it, otherwise I can see more Malaysian bloggers are dropping their ads sooner or later.

I'd like to share my personal experience on both Nuffnang and Advertlets.

I've earned much more through AdSense than Nuffnang + Advertlets for the same period (100+/- daily visitors, about 55% originates from Malaysia). I used to put both Nuffnang and Advertlets above the fold but the result (earnings) was quite disappointing. But, instead of dropping them, I moved them below the fold. For me, it's very exciting to be a little part of the growing Malaysian blog advertising networks.

<strong>Nuffnang</strong>
CPC ad earnings can be as low as RM0.10 per click. Luckily there's an option to turn CPC ad off, which I gladly did as soon as the option was available. CPM or cost-per-unique-visitor ad is paying okay (still much fewer than AdSense but I've no complaint on CPM; what can I expect from Malaysian advertisers?).

Until today, I still do not see what's the point of tracking bloggers' blog referrals, which are considered priceless for many. Like I said, bloggers can use free web metrics to track much more information and view the data in colourful charts or graphs for periods like months or even years. I doubt if any blogger find the last five referral urls or search keywords very informative and enjoy reloading the analytics page so that he/she does not miss any important referral urls or search keywords. Can someone correct me on this? Oops, perhaps Nuffnang use this data to match bloggers with suitable advertisers? Are bloggers informed or aware that by joining Nuffnang they sell their priceless data?!

What I as a blogger expect from Nuffnang 2.0 (the new logo is awesome):
1. More earnings, I admit I am very greedy.
2. CPM ads pay based on the week the ad shown instead of the week before. This is good for both bloggers and advertisers.
3. Remove the referral tracking.
4. More benefits for bloggers like movie tickets and other attractive deals that bloggers <i>nationwide</i> can enjoy. Thanks for sending the Ratatouille movie tickets to me via postal mail although I still haven't received it.
Something that I'm sure coming in Nuffnang 2.0: prettier user interface <strike>without TOM's sexy girls</strike><a href="http://www.tenthofmarch.com/2007/08/11/a-sneak-peak-of-the-new-nuffnang-20/" rel="nofollow">.</a>

<strong>Advertlets</strong>
I earned peanuts when I first join Advertlets. Then, after I shot Josh an email to see whether there's any campaign for my blog, my earnings increase exponentially (first check is on the way this month, ahem, if I did not offend anyone from Advertlets in this comment, LOL). My blog is again earning peanuts through Advertlets, about RM0.10+- a day since the campaign ended early this month. Hmmm, seems like a good time to fire another email to Josh's inbox LOL.

<strong>If I am an advertiser, I will choose...</strong>
One question that I often think is that if I am go to promote my blog/product online, which ad network will I choose? Trying both is certainly a good way if budget allows. For now, I personally will choose [deleted because low earnings are still better than nothing]

<strong>Click fraud</strong>
Another question that advertisers should ponder about is how high is the rate of click fraud? How good are Nuffnang and Advertlets at detecting click fraud? It's very funny when low-traffic blogs earn more than moderate-trafficked blogs in term of CPC ad and even funnier is that the ad networks do not realize that click fraud has happened... What if competitors click on your CPC ad to inflate your advertising cost? What if bloggers click on his/her own ads? Can they detect these fraudulent clicks? Note: Even Google Adwords cannot run away from click fraud, so the real question is do the ad networks put serious effort in eliminating click frauds?

<strong>The more the ad banners, the lower the value of the blog...</strong>
I had a big laugh when I saw blogs full of Nuffnang (3 maximum right?) and Advertlets (unlimited) ad banners. How much value do you think this kind of blogs can provide to your ad campaign? Why don't the ad networks limit the number of ad banners? Yes, total impression is very important for them to show to the potential advertisers in pitching them to try their high quality ad experience!?!

I’d like to share my personal experience on both Nuffnang and Advertlets.

I’ve earned much more through AdSense than Nuffnang + Advertlets for the same period (100+/- daily visitors, about 55% originates from Malaysia). I used to put both Nuffnang and Advertlets above the fold but the result (earnings) was quite disappointing. But, instead of dropping them, I moved them below the fold. For me, it’s very exciting to be a little part of the growing Malaysian blog advertising networks.

Nuffnang
CPC ad earnings can be as low as RM0.10 per click. Luckily there’s an option to turn CPC ad off, which I gladly did as soon as the option was available. CPM or cost-per-unique-visitor ad is paying okay (still much fewer than AdSense but I’ve no complaint on CPM; what can I expect from Malaysian advertisers?).

Until today, I still do not see what’s the point of tracking bloggers’ blog referrals, which are considered priceless for many.

4. More benefits for bloggers like movie tickets and other attractive deals that bloggers nationwide can enjoy. Thanks for sending the Ratatouille movie tickets to me via postal mail although I still haven’t received it.
Something that I’m sure coming in Nuffnang 2.0: prettier user interface <strike>without TOM’s sexy girls</strike>.

Advertlets
I earned peanuts when I first join Advertlets. Then, after I shot Josh an email to see whether there’s any campaign for my blog, my earnings increase exponentially (first check is on the way this month, ahem, if I did not offend anyone from Advertlets in this comment, LOL). My blog is again earning peanuts through Advertlets, about RM0.10+- a day since the campaign ended early this month. Hmmm, seems like a good time to fire another email to Josh’s inbox LOL.

If I am an advertiser, I will choose…
One question that I often think is that if I am go to promote my blog/product online, which ad network will I choose? Trying both is certainly a good way if budget allows. For now, I personally will choose [deleted because low earnings are still better than nothing]

Click fraud
Another question that advertisers should ponder about is how high is the rate of click fraud? How good are Nuffnang and Advertlets at detecting click fraud? It’s very funny when low-traffic blogs earn more than moderate-trafficked blogs in term of CPC ad and even funnier is that the ad networks do not realize that click fraud has happened… What if competitors click on your CPC ad to inflate your advertising cost? What if bloggers click on his/her own ads? Can they detect these fraudulent clicks? Note: Even Google Adwords cannot run away from click fraud, so the real question is do the ad networks put serious effort in eliminating click frauds?

The more the ad banners, the lower the value of the blog…

CPC based ads are not that effective anyways unless its really contextual or related to your blog content.

Why you get more money from Adsense than any other is because they hit it right and you place it well.

Now if I take a technology blog, people coming to your site from SE will not click on images unless they are very accurate which is not most of the time. On the other hand something which is wrapped around text and mixed will have high chances of getting click.

If you have site full of images and banner then its a different case.

Images are best if they are CPM and text work best when its CPC.

I tried both the services long back and soon realized it will not work for me and was.t effective either.

Ok, first and foremost - thats my earnings for the past week or so ...

this post i do not see it as a bashing post, its just a post on how earnings has dropped ever since the new program came into effect. it simply shows how good or how bad the CPC-based ads are ...

from earning 80 ringgit a week down to 70 cents per week ...

i stayed with nuffnang even though i am earning nothing at some point, as i believe its somehow going to be big someday and hopefully when it does, people do wanna allow u guys to put up ads on my site ...

people has converted into other ads program, but i stayed true on with nuffnang even though when they were alternatives ...

but when the CPC-based as came into effect, the earnings from it is just too insulting ... and when u are getting 70 cents from 7 clicks - this is ridiculous ...

i dunno, this is my point of view ... i know, nuffnang are not obliged to be getting me any ads - because i know my site is not as big as the rest are ...

all i can blame is that i am not getting enough hits - thus making my site a low ranking blog which make it not favourable among ur clients ...
