It seems like Advertlets forget to renew their domain? Many bloggers from the local blogopshere reported that their Advertlets ads are taking control and forwarding their sites somewhere else. If you do a WHOIS on the domain, you’ll noticed that advertlets.com’s expiry date is 3rd of January, today’s already 5th.

That’s really a very careless mistake to make. Many bloggers had thrown in their wildness assumptions on why Advertlets has forgot to renew their domains, but I’ll say let the owner give his official explanation when he get things all sort out.
Lesson of the day: Renew your domain 1 year in advance. It only taken less than a minute.
PS: Special thanks to Edward, Aaron, Nabil, Jess, Krazl, Pinolubu, Anthony and those who don’t want your name up here. Appreciate the heads up.

Godaddy sends me at least 3 reminders before it expires. He won’t lose the domain tho…. I think ICAAN will wait for 3-6 months before allowing transfer thru expiration
ReplyJee January 5th, 2008
3-6 months? Don’t think so. They would probably hold it for just a couple of weeks.

forgot to domain or just intended to not to renew it?
Replyhongkiat January 5th, 2008
James: You are right, my host sends me 3 (1 month, 2week, 1 week) before the domain expires. I highly doubt Josh would miss that.
I think Advertlets should point the entire website over to advertlets.com.my. That could be a temporarily solution.

At first i thought my website being hacked, but luckily I manage to detect what going on. After I go thoroughly and manage to find quick action how to dealt with Javascript redirect.
If Advertlets would like to change to .com.my , I think they don’t have enough money. Even RM50 for .com DNS they can’t afford, how about .com.my RM 100?

Kitkat: That’s also a very smart way of you trying to get attention. :-)
Noorizam: Josh is working on the problem. Check out his Twitts.

Wow! This is a real disaster especially if you consider they’re supposed to be an ‘Internet’ company. There shouldn’t be an issue with DNS if they renewed the domain name on time or did not changed servers.
My guess is the domain name expired and was redirected to the domain parking page. Now that they’re renwed the domain, they need to enter the old DNS and wait for it to propagate.

Service has been partially restored. Those in KL should be okay by now, however East Malaysia and Singapore are experiencing intermittent service. We are working to resolve this fully, and all should experience full service on Sunday morning or the next few hours.

Has this been going on since 1st January 08?
Ouch! I only went online today… sigh…
Will there be any compensation from Advertlets?
The agreement requires prior notice before removing the ad codes right? I had to remove the codes and in doing so, I violated the agreement. Will I be penalised?
Replyhongkiat January 6th, 2008
CultureShoik: Today is 6th January, are you writing from the future? I’m sure Advertlets will try to make it up to its publishers for this tragedy.
