Nice overview. I like the depth of styles ranging from “viewfinder constructionists” to wildly creative digital artists.

A very good point by Antoine. I believe this is an important highlight in contemporary photography. Most photographers are becoming illustrators through the use of various post processing softwares. One can see that in many photos in which the "wow" effect is produced by the post processing means employed and not the composition and the natural contrasts and lights or the complex geometry that catches the eye. The border between photography and illustration is becoming more and more thin and as the new developed softwares permit all sorts of new "enhancements" to the photo this border is vanishing.

Having looked through some of these, what hits my head like a hammer is: well yes, I got pleasure, really, how so so so good they are and so on. BUT. You like to get pleasure from life? Do it. I don't like fiction. I like ordinary life, and it's beauty, ugliness, and seeing "the significance of an event". Wanna? Here you go:

Nice overview. I like the depth of styles ranging from "viewfinder constructionists" to wildly creative digital artists.

I heard someone say once (in the dark days of darkrooms) that the "images" were the photographers goal and are dictated by the complete construction of the full frame, depth of field, choice of focal point balanced against available light...motion...and a hundred uncontrollable variables. The greatest photographer may achieve only a handful of images in lifetime's collection of photographs and not even the greatest print maker cannot move a photograph up in class.

I think we need a new set of terms for the work that technology has unleashed, with so much of the image being created and compiled outside the lens it's hard to compare. Can you imagine what the likes photography's pioneer would have created?
