They offer their books for FREE online, and also offer print and downloadable digital editions for very reasonable prices. For instance, they offer a print edition of most books for only $29.95;; a downloadable PDF of $39.95; individual print chapters for only $2.00; individual audio chapters for only $4.00; digital study aids like PowerPoints, Flash Cards, Pop Quizzes, etc. for only $1.00 per chapter.

My school, Foothill Community College is using their Principles of Economics book and it’s a dream. I bought the print edition for $29.95 and downloaded a chapter for $2.00 last week when I went up to Tahoe for some R&R; I didn’t want to drag my print book along, so I just printed out chapter 4 for a few bucks and tucked it in my backpack. I also downloaded a digital audio file for the same chapter to listen to as reinforcement on the way back down to the Bay Area from Tahoe.

I LOVE this company, because they are doing REAL textbooks; there is a lot of free junk out there; old textbooks that have been out of print and someone has uploaded a digital file of, etc. But Flat World Knowledge is developingi NEW books authored by leading academics, and offering them for FREE, and with low priced purchase options. I hope this company thrives. They are real innovators.
